Egress Windows Before & After Photos

Before
A homeowner in Minocqua, WI, wanted to improve the safety and functionality of their basement by adding a properly sized emergency exit. The existing basement did not have an adequate means of emergency escape and rescue in the planned living area, limiting how the space could safely be used. With Wisconsin homeowners increasingly looking to make better use of their basements, installing an egress window can provide an important combination of emergency access, natural light, and ventilation.
After
Sure-Dry installed a new Egress Window System to provide a dedicated emergency escape and rescue opening from the basement. The installation required creating an opening through the foundation wall, properly setting and sealing the window, and installing the exterior window well to provide clear access from the basement to the outdoors.
The completed egress window gives the homeowner a safer and brighter basement while providing an important emergency exit and improving the overall functionality of the space.

In Waupaca, WI, the homeowner wanted to finish the basement into a safe and livable space but had only small, non-compliant windows that offered no emergency escape route or natural light. The foundation wall suitable for installation was partially below grade with dense soil conditions, requiring careful excavation and drainage planning to prevent future water issues. During the inspection, Sure-Dry’s System Design Specialist evaluated the structure and confirmed that a full egress window installation was necessary to meet Wisconsin building code and ensure basement safety.

After
Sure-Dry’s certified crew excavated the area outside the foundation and used precision-cutting methods to create a clean opening for the new egress system. A durable, insulated egress window was installed along with a reinforced, rust-resistant window well featuring proper drainage tied into the home’s waterproofing system. After backfilling and restoring the exterior grade, the new window provided both a compliant emergency exit and significantly more daylight and ventilation.
The homeowner was pleased to have a safe, code-approved basement that now feels open, bright, and ready for finishing.

After

Sure-Dry installed a new Egress Window by carefully excavating outside the foundation, cutting a precise opening through the concrete wall, and installing a new window, window well, and drainage system. The finished installation provides a code-compliant emergency escape route while allowing abundant natural light and fresh air into the basement. The homeowner now has a safer, brighter, and more functional basement with added value and peace of mind.

In Berlin, WI, the homeowners wanted to make their basement safer and suitable for finishing but only had small, non-compliant windows that didn’t provide a code-approved escape route. The foundation wall where the egress would be installed was solid concrete and partially below grade, meaning excavation depth and drainage control were critical to prevent water intrusion. During inspection, Sure-Dry’s System Design Specialist confirmed that a full egress window installation would not only meet Wisconsin building code but also improve light and airflow in the basement.

After
Sure-Dry’s installation crew excavated the area alongside the foundation and cut a precise, properly sized opening through the concrete wall. A durable, energy-efficient egress window was installed with a reinforced, corrosion-resistant window well featuring an integrated drain tied directly into the home’s waterproofing system. Once sealed, backfilled, and regraded, the new installation provided a compliant emergency exit and enhanced the basement’s natural light and ventilation.
The homeowners were very satisfied with their safer, brighter, and fully code-compliant basement—ready for future finishing or living space expansion.

Before

The homeowner in Berlin, WI wanted to use their basement bedroom more safely, but the existing window was too small to meet modern emergency escape and rescue requirements. While it allowed natural light into the space, it didn't provide the legal egress needed for a finished basement bedroom, limiting both safety and functionality. Homeowners searching for basement waterproofing, basement waterproofing company, or an egress window installation often discover that an undersized basement window can prevent a room from qualifying as a legal bedroom.

After

Sure-Dry installed a RockWell Egress Window System, carefully excavating outside the foundation, creating the properly sized opening, installing the new window and window well, and ensuring proper drainage and grading around the installation. The new egress window now provides a safe emergency exit, brings significantly more natural light into the basement, and allows the bedroom to meet legal egress requirements while adding value and peace of mind for the homeowner.
