Egress Windows Before & After Photos

Before: A homeowner in Wrightstown, WI had a finished basement that lacked a proper emergency escape and rescue opening. While the finished space provided additional usable living area, the absence of an egress window raised important safety concerns and could prevent the basement from meeting applicable building code requirements for certain living spaces.

After: Sure-Dry installed a new egress window system to provide an emergency escape and rescue opening from the finished basement. The installation included creating an opening in the foundation wall, installing the window, and providing an exterior window well for access to the outdoors. The new window also allows additional natural light into the basement, making the finished space brighter and more inviting. The improvement helps the homeowner work toward meeting applicable basement egress requirements while adding safety and functionality.

Building codes require that finished basement living areas have an emergency egress - an egress window large enough to allow safe exit out of the space in case of an emergency. A large window well with a step in it must also be used outside the egress window.

Here at Sure-Dry Basement Systems, we are certified installers of egress window wells. In addition to providing a safe exit, our egress windows allow more natural light and fresh air into the basement to make the space feel larger and more inviting.

Before:
A homeowner in Belgium, WI, was looking to install an egress window in their basement to add more natural light and meet safety code requirements for a planned living area. The existing basement windows were small and offered little light or ventilation, making the space dark and unsuitable for regular use. The homeowner wanted a bright, safe, and code-compliant solution that would enhance the comfort and usability of their basement.

After:
Sure-Dry’s crew excavated the area and installed a new egress window system, including a large, energy-efficient window, a durable window well, and a clear cover designed to keep out debris and direct water away from the foundation. The system was carefully sealed and graded to ensure proper drainage and long-term durability. The finished result provided abundant natural light, improved airflow, and a safe emergency exit that meets all modern building codes.

The homeowner was thrilled with how much brighter and more open their basement felt, knowing the new window also added safety and value to their home.
