Broken Concrete Patio and Sunken Walkway Lifted and Leveled in Merrill, WI

Before: A homeowner in Merrill, WI had several concrete areas around the home that had started settling and shifting over the years, including a backyard patio, the wrap-around walkway between the house and garage, and the concrete landings beneath two entry step areas. The walkway leading toward the backyard patio had become especially uneven in spots, making it awkward to walk through the side of the property. The concrete around both step entrances had also dropped enough that the transitions into the home no longer felt level or safe.
Like a lot of homes around Lincoln County, years of moisture changes and Northern Wisconsin freeze-thaw weather had slowly caused the soil beneath the concrete to settle. Cracks and open joints had started letting more water underneath the slabs, which only continued making the problem worse over time.

After: Sure-Dry used PolyLevel High-Density Concrete Lifting Foam to carefully lift and stabilize the settled patio, wrap-around walkway, and concrete entry areas around the home. By injecting the foam beneath the slabs, the crew was able to fill voids underneath the concrete and raise the affected sections back closer to level without the need for a full tear-out and replacement. After the lifting work was completed, the joints and cracks were sealed using NexusPro Concrete Joint Sealant to help keep water from getting back underneath the slabs. By the end of the project, the transitions around the entrances were smoother, the walkway between the house and garage was much safer to use, and the backyard patio area looked far more even and cleaned up overall.
