Concrete Walkway and Front Step Lifted and Leveled in Oshkosh, WI

Before: A homeowner in Oshkosh, WI had a concrete walkway leading to the front door that had settled enough over the years that the first step up into the house had become much higher than it should have been. The walkway slabs had dropped and shifted, creating an uneven approach to the entrance and making the front step awkward — and unsafe — to use. Like a lot of homes around Winnebago County, years of moisture changes and Wisconsin freeze-thaw weather had slowly caused the soil beneath the walkway to settle.
The homeowner was concerned not only about the appearance of the walkway, but also about the safety issue the uneven step height had created. The difference in elevation had gotten beyond what current code would typically allow, making it much easier for someone to trip coming in or out of the home.

After: Sure-Dry lifted and stabilized the settled walkway using PolyLevel High-Density Concrete Lifting Foam to bring the slabs back up closer to their proper height and alignment. By injecting the foam beneath the concrete through small ports, the crew was able to carefully raise the walkway and reduce the excessive step height at the front entrance without needing to tear out and replace the concrete. Compared to traditional mudjacking methods, PolyLevel High-Density Concrete Lifting Foam is lightweight, cures quickly, and works well for precise lifting adjustments like this.
Once the walkway was lifted and leveled, the joints and cracks were sealed using NexusPro Concrete Joint Sealant to help keep water from working back underneath the slabs. By the time the project was finished, the front entrance had a much smoother, safer transition and the walkway looked far more even and cleaned up overall.
