These issues were being amplified by Marathon County’s mixed soil conditions and seasonal temperature fluctuations, causing condensation and heat loss throughout the home.

Before: A homeowner in Wausau, WI had a front walkway leading from the public sidewalk to the front door that had settled enough over the years to become uneven and awkward to walk across. Several slabs had dropped, creating noticeable height differences between sections of concrete and causing water to sit in the lower spots after rain. During the winter, those uneven areas would collect ice and snow, making the walkway even more of a safety concern.
Like many homes around Marathon County, the combination of freeze-thaw weather and shifting moisture under the concrete had slowly caused the slabs to sink out of level. The homeowner wanted to fix the walkway before the tripping hazards became worse and avoid the cost of tearing out and replacing the entire sidewalk.

After: Sure-Dry used PolyLevel High-Density Concrete Lifting Foam to carefully lift and stabilize the settled walkway slabs leading from the sidewalk to the front entrance. By injecting the foam beneath the concrete, the crew was able to fill the empty spaces underneath and raise the affected sections back closer to level with minimal disruption to the property. Compared to traditional mudjacking methods, PolyLevel High-Density Concrete Lifting Foam is lightweight, cures quickly, and works especially well for precise lifting along walkways and entrance paths like this.
Once the concrete was leveled, the joints and cracks were sealed using NexusPro Concrete Joint Sealant to help keep water from getting back underneath the slabs. By the end of the project, the front walkway had smoother transitions, looked much cleaner, and was safer to walk from the sidewalk up to the front door.
