We carefully lifted and leveled the sunken sidewalk using PolyLevel, an expanding polyurethane foam designed to fill voids beneath the concrete and stabilize the supporting soil. Before: A homeowner in Oshkosh, WI had a concrete walkway leading to the front door that had settled enough over the years that the first step up into the house had become much higher than it should have been. By injecting the foam beneath the concrete through small ports, the crew was able to carefully raise the walkway and reduce the excessive step height at the front entrance without needing to tear out and replace the concrete. Compared to traditional mudjacking methods, PolyLevel High-Density Concrete Lifting Foam is lightweight, cures quickly, and works well for precise lifting adjustments like this.
Once the walkway was lifted and leveled, the joints and cracks were sealed using NexusPro Concrete Joint Sealant to help keep water from working back underneath the slabs. By the time the project was finished, the front entrance had a much smoother, safer transition and the walkway looked far more even and cleaned up overall.
