Sure-Dry Basement Systems, Inc. was named “best commercial entry,” for their parade float during the 42nd annual Appleton Christmas parade.
The float was the “Sure-Dry Basement Systems Island of Misfit Toys,” based off the popular tv special Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer. The majority of the characters on the float are made out of materials that the company uses to fix foundations. The characters on the float are: Rudolph, Sam the Snowman and Bumble the abominable snow monster. The toys include Charlie-In-The-Box, a squirt gun that shoots grape jelly and “a scooter for Jimmy.” A Sure-Dry employee plays Yukon Cornelius and he’s been growing his beard since June to play the role!
This was Sure-Dry's second time being in the parade with the last time being in the late 90's.
The unusually seasonable temperatures brought out as many as 100,000 local residents across Northeast Wisconsin and the parade is among the largest of the upper Midwest.
